Christmas Goombas (also known as Santa Goombas) are semi-rare enemies found throughout the Newer Super Mario Bros. series. They're reskinned Christmas-themed Goombas made for snowy environments.
Appearance[]
Christmas Goombas are brown mushroom-like creatures with darker brown shoe-like feet and beige armless bodies. They have two large black often angry eyebrows over their two white eyes and a pair of white fangs sprouting from their lower jaw. They wear red Santa hats with white rims and white balls at the back.
Exclusively within Grey Mountains, Christmas Goombas are depicted with gray bodies.
In Newer Super Mario Bros. DS, Christmas Goombas appear as 2D sprites instead of 3D models due to the fact that in the original New Super Mario Bros., Goombas were 2D sprites to improve performance.
Behavior[]
Christmas Goombas act identically to Goombas. They will slowly walk left and right, falling off ledges and turning at walls. They can be defeated by any sort of stomp to their heads (aside from a default stomp using a Mini Mushroom), though contact with any side of their bodies other than their top will result in being damaged.
They can also be defeated by Fire Flowers' fireballs, Hammer Suits' hammers, Super Stars, and Mega Mushrooms. They can be frozen by Ice Flowers and Penguin Suits' iceballs.
